Your privacy
Right Pressure is a free tyre pressure checker. We've built it to know as little about you as possible. This page says exactly what we do collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Right Pressure is part of Garage List, run by RJP Group Ltd, registered in England (company no. 5937783), 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. We're the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@rightpressure.co.uk.
Checking a registration
When you check a registration, we send it to our tyre data supplier, Vehicle Data Global, and to the DVSA's MOT history service, to get your car's tyre figures, make, model and MOT date. We keep those vehicle details so the next person who checks the same car gets the answer straight away. We don't ask who you are.
To stop the service being abused, we limit how many checks can come from one connection. To do that we log each check against a scrambled one-way code made from your IP address, never the address itself.
Photos of number plates
If you use "Snap plate", the photo is sent to an AI service (Anthropic) to read the registration, and then discarded. We don't store the photo.
Reminders, if you sign up
If you ask for tyre-check or MOT reminders, we keep your email address, the registration and car, your postcode (and the rough location it gives us), which reminders you chose, and when you confirmed or unsubscribed. We use these only to send the reminders you asked for, and to point you to garages near you when your MOT is due.
We only start once you've confirmed by tapping the link we email you, and every email has a one-tap unsubscribe. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Some garages use Garage Page to send their own customers MOT reminders. Using only the registration, we check whether yours already does. If so, we don't send you a second MOT reminder. We don't tell the garage anything about you, and we don't share your email with anyone.
When you unsubscribe we stop straight away and keep a note that you did, so we never email you by mistake. If you'd like everything deleted, email us and we will.
Counting visits
We count visits with our own simple counter, not Google Analytics. It uses no cookies and doesn't store your IP address. For each page view it records the page, the rough area you're in (the nearest town, as worked out by our network provider, Cloudflare), the type of device, and the site that sent you. For a lookup it records the make and model found, never the registration. A code that changes every day lets us count visitors without recognising anyone from one day to the next.
What's stored on your phone or computer
Your browser remembers a few things to make the site easier to use: whether you prefer psi or bar, whether you've already set up reminders for a car, and when we last suggested adding Right Pressure to your home screen. These stay in your browser and aren't sent to us. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Links to Amazon
Some pages suggest useful kit, like a tyre gauge, with a link to Amazon. Right Pressure is in the Amazon Associates programme, so if you buy something after following one of those links, Amazon pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. We count the click (which item, from which page) the same way we count visits. Once you're on Amazon, Amazon's own privacy notice and cookies apply. Amazon only tells us totals of what was bought through our links, never who bought it.
Who else is involved
We use these companies to run Right Pressure. They only handle your information to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: our database and servers.
- Cloudflare: the network that delivers the site and works out your rough location.
- Resend: sends our emails.
- Vehicle Data Global and the DVSA: tyre and MOT data for a registration.
- Anthropic: reads number plates from photos.
- postcodes.io: turns a postcode into a rough location for reminders.
- Google Fonts: the typefaces on the page, which your browser downloads from Google.
Some of these are based outside the UK. Where they are, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law approves for international transfers.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. You can withdraw consent for reminders at any time with the unsubscribe link. Just email hello@rightpressure.co.uk.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date below.
