Tyres at the MOT

4.9%failed on tyres
5.9%cars of the same age
26.7%passed with a tyre advisory

In 2025, the Peugeot 2008 (2016–2019) failed its MOT on tyres in 4.9% of 65,687 tests. Cars of the same age failed on tyres 5.9% of the time, so it failed less often than average for its age. Another 26.7% passed with a tyre advisory, usually tread close to the limit.

DVSA anonymised MOT data, 2025: MOT tests on cars (class 4), not counting retests. The figures cover the whole Peugeot 2008 (2016–2019) range, not only this version. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Resetting the tyre pressure warning light on your Peugeot

Most UK Peugeots from about 2013 (208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008 and current models) use an indirect under-inflation detection system that compares wheel speeds, so it has to be reset after setting the pressures. Some older Peugeots had sensors in the valves.

  1. Set all four tyres to the label pressures, cold, suited to the load.
  2. Switch the ignition on, staying parked.
  3. On the touchscreen, open the Driving (or Vehicle) menu and choose Under-inflation initialisation; on the newest i-Connect screens it's Settings > Vehicle > Safety > Tire Pressure Setup.
  4. Confirm with Yes. A message and a beep confirm it.

Cars without a touchscreen

  1. Press and hold the under-inflation reset button on the dashboard for about 3 seconds until it beeps.
  2. On the Peugeot 108, the button is in the glovebox: press it until the warning lamp flashes 3 times.

When to reset: Reset after every pressure adjustment or wheel change. The warning won't clear by itself.

Menu names vary by model and year, so check your handbook if yours looks different. More in what the warning light means.

Put your reg in and we'll show the figures for your exact car, including the wheel size it left the factory on.

What tyre pressure should a 2008 FL have?

32 psi at the front and 32 psi at the rear (2.2 and 2.2 bar) on the standard 16-inch wheels, with the tyres cold. Larger optional wheels use slightly different figures — see the table above.

Should I use a higher pressure when the car is loaded?

The manufacturer gives one figure for this car, so no. If you're carrying a full load for a long motorway run, the label on the door pillar may show a higher figure — follow that if it does.

What tyre size does the 2008 FL use?

195/60R16 or 205/50R17, depending on the wheels it was ordered with. The size is on the tyre's sidewall, e.g. 235/40R18.

Does the Peugeot 2008 (2016–2019) fail the MOT on tyres more often?

No, less often than average for its age. In 2025, 4.9% of Peugeot 2008 (2016–2019) MOT tests failed on tyres, against 5.9% for cars of the same age (DVSA MOT data, 65,687 tests). Another 26.7% passed with a tyre advisory.

Check them cold. Pressures are set for tyres that haven't been driven more than a mile or two. After a run they read 3–4 psi high.

Once a month, and before a long trip. Tyres lose about 1 psi a month on their own.

The sticker wins. If your car's door-pillar or fuel-flap label says something different, go with that — it knows your exact spec.
